Week 7

Hi all,

The EOTC (Education Outside The Classroom) week is nearly here! Please read the information carefully your child has brought home, especially with regards to times leaving school on Monday. We can't wait for anyone!

Students had another busy week in Room 7. They published their writing and did lots of fun activities in reading - flax weaving, Venn Diagrams and plays. In maths they worked with decimals and used place value to add and subtract.

Stars of the Week were Adam Wells and Lucretia Day. The winner of the PB4L draw was Mohammad Amran Safi.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you in a week (unless you're coming to the Year 6 camp on Monday).

Mr Henderson.

Week 6

Hi all,

It's nice to see the summer weather is continuing - apparently the mercury reached 28 degrees in Auckland yesterday! That's warm for March.

It's been a great week in Room 7 with lots of learning. Some students don't have a ruler - please ask your child and if they need one get it this weekend. This would have been particularly useful today when students created bar graphs to record data from our height chart.

In reading this week students practiced their summarising, comprehension and decoding skills.

In writing they wrote about a moment in time, painting a picture for the reader with adverbs and adjectives.

There is a meeting for Year 6 camp parents on Tuesday, 6.30pm, in Room 17. Year 5 parents are meeting at the same time in Room 12. There is just one week to go and students are starting to get excited! It will be a fun week.

Stars of the Week are Thomas Martin and Aesia Wazir Shah. The PB4L draw was won by Api Talamaivao. This week's Principal's Award went to Adam Wells for his quick thinking in maths.

Have a great weekend!

Week 5

Hi all,

We have reached the end of another busy week in Room 7. Students started maths rotations this week. Pentagons, Ovals and Squares added and subtracted fractions, renaming first. Triangles made 100s using 10s and 1000s using 100s.

In writing they wrote alliteration poems. Inquiry this term is Pasifika and today we discussed a dance we will do with our buddy class in Week 10. Practice starts next week.

Some camp forms are still outstanding. Please return these on Monday as we are going in two weeks and need to start organising food etc. If your child isn't going they still need to bring the form back.

Stars of the Week are Sania Sharifi and Lily-Rose Maangi. The PB4L draw winner is Sunny Cho.

Have a great weekend!

Mr Henderson.
