Friday. October 1st

Hi all,

We made it! Today marks the end of a rather turbulent term. Thank you for all your mahi with your children - it hasn't been easy but everyone has shown New Windsor Way values to get through.

On a positive note, despite the spike in new Delta cases on Wednesday, the government is indicating a drop to Level 2 (with restrictions) next week. It looks like we won't be able to leave Auckland but more businesses can open and we can begin to rebuild the economy. I am looking forward to having a meal out and visiting my barber PLUS school will be open again for all children from October 18th. Let's all cross our fingers and hope the government follows through.

Even though we may not be able to go to our bach out of Auckland these holidays, or visit friends and relatives, I hope you have a relaxing break at home with NO school work. If we move to Level 2 we should be able to move around Auckland more. If so, I plan to head to the beach and do some day trips around our beautiful region.

I'd like to finish this blog with a special thanks to students of Room 15, especially those who attended the zoom meetings regularly. I feel these have made a difference to the lockdown as we have continued to connect. They were also lots of fun! Everyone has worked so hard in trying times and I have enjoyed seeing all your mahi. Stars of this week were Wil, Viral, Farhaan and Harsh. See me next term for your prize boys.

Mr Henderson.

Friday, September 24th

Hi all,

We came one step closer to all being back at school this week. Going to Level 3 means essential workers can send their children to school, we can get takeaways, visit our mechanic and have a bit more freedom.

I was in one of our bubbles at school today and it was nice to see the children's smiling faces. Even though most wore face masks and there were many restrictions in place, it was nice to be teaching in person. I have noticed a lot of work coming through from the ministry's learning packs too which is great.

There is one more week left of Term 3 and distance learning then it's school holidays.

Thanks to all the parents who have been sharing their child's work - keep it coming on email or Class Dojo.

Stars of the Week were Prisha, Viral, Anthony and Wil.

Have a great weekend.

Mr Henderson.

Friday, September 17th

Hi all,

It's encouraging to see a constant decline in new Delta numbers and even the government is saying it's likely we will go to Level 3 next Wednesday.

We got through another week of Distance Learning and I am loving see what your children are doing. Keep sharing your child's work on email or Class Dojo. At Level 2 when everyone is back I plan to shout fish and chips for those students who shared the most work.

This week's stars are Prisha, Aleena, Anthony, Juwairiah and Viral. See me when school returns for your prize. Below is some of their work shared during the week. It is also good to see parents putting their children to work on Disconnect-ed Day. You can come round to my house and vacuum any time Viral.

Friday, September 10th

Hi all,

Sigh. I have just watched the news and because of the many unlinked Covid cases they are saying we may need to be at Level 4 longer. Let's hope they can make progress in linking those mystery cases by Monday when they review our level.

It has been another fun week of Distance Learning - thanks for sharing your child's work. Today was the first Disconnect-ed Day and this will continue every Friday while we are at Levels 3 and 4. I hope your child found lots to do off the computer. There are plenty of ideas for them to choose from on the class site.

This week's Stars of the Week are Anthony, Joseph, Viral and Wil. Congratulations boys - see me after lockdown for your prizes. Below is some of their work shared with me. Keep emailing that work or putting it on Class Dojo and you could be next week's star.

See you online next week.

Mr Henderson.

Friday, September 3rd

Hi all,

Another week down at Level 4. We are getting less new Covid cases each day now which is encouraging - I look forward to being at Level 2 soon and seeing all your smiling children's faces at school.

Many students have been keeping busy which is good. There is so much to do and I don't expect them to do all the work I set. Their wellbeing is the most important thing right now. Make sure you email completed work to me or upload to Class Dojo.

Each week I'll choose two Stars of the Week - based on the amount of work shared with me. This week's stars are Aleena and Viral. Well done! See me when school returns for your prize.

Below is a selection of work shared with me this week - from Viral, Farhaan, Anthony and Aleena.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you online next week for more distance learning.
