Term Two overview

Hi all,

Welcome back to a brand new term! I hope you had a relaxing holiday with your family. I had a busy time between Auckland and Thames where my mum lives. This is going to be a busy term so keep an eye on this blog for information.

One thing I'll need your help with is topic where students will learn about different types of technology and make their own. We will be building ramps and modifying Marigold's enclosure. We will also close part of the school rabbit's shelter. The topic is called "Trash to treasure: Technology in our world". Throughout the term I will be looking for donations and recycled materials. At this stage I know we will need timber for supporting beams and ramps and clear plastic for the roof. Please email me if you are able to help. When it comes to doing the work parents with building and art expertise would be welcomed in class to help students.

Important dates for this term:
Week 1: Cross Country, May 2nd
Week 3: Cluster Cross Country at Blockhouse Bay Reservce, May 14th
Week 7: Cluster Swimming Carnival at Cameron Pools, June 12th
Week 9: Reports go home, June 25th
Week 9: Disco, June 28th
Week 10: Parent-teacher meetings, July 1st and 2nd
Week 10: Portrait and sibling photos, July 2nd.

Have a great week.

Mr Henderson.

Week 10

Hi all,

We made it! It has been a very busy term with the culmination of our term's work showcased in Pasifika: Feel the beat today. I hope you enjoyed it if you were there. The children certainly enjoyed learning their dance and performing it for you and the rest of the school.

Stars of the Week were Markell Morris-Taualofa, Leo Tangianau-Kirianu, Kingston Veaila and Api Talamaivao. These boys have been focused on their work, showing a 'can do' attitude and using their 'inside voice'. Well done!

School has now finished for Term One and will reopen at 8.30am on April 29th. See you then!

Mr Henderson.

Week 9

Hi all,

What a busy fortnight! Sorry I didn't post a blog last Friday but it was the last thing on my mind after being away at the Year 6 camp all week. Students had a blast and the Year 5s seemed to enjoy themselves too. They learnt lots of new things outside the classroom and hopefully have everlasting memories.

Today was "Give it a go" in the pool where students participated in a number of races. They did well.

Next week is the last week of school for Term One. There is a special dance assembly on Friday to finish the term - students will showcase their learning about Pasifika.

Stars of the Week were Mustafa Eskaf and Jiya Shah. The PB4L draw winner was Adam Wells.

Have a great weekend!

Mr Henderson.
