Thursday, March 4th

Hi all,

With no community cases for three days in a row it's looking promising that tomorrow Jacinda will announce we will go back to Level 2 (who knows, maybe Level 1). Fingers crossed! Even Level 2 would be great so your tamariki can return to school on Monday. Watch this space!

Today's Star of the Day is Wil for his amazing New Windsor Way competencies poster (see below). Ka pai Wil.

Enjoy your day at home with your whanau tomorrow. I will be teaching the bubble at school so won't be doing a Zoom but will check emails after school.

Regards,

Mr Henderson.

Week 5 - Alert Level 3 - Distance Learning at home

Hi all, welcome back to Level 3! During this lockdown I'll share work each day of one of Room 15's students. If your work goes on here you are the Star of the Day and when school reopens you get two chocolates, half an hour golden time and can sit on the couch. The first star is Isabelle - ka pai Isabelle! You can see her work below. Remember to share your work when complete and you might see it on here too. Stay safe in your bubble and I hope to see you back at school soon.

Science

 Hi all,

This week students of Room 15 learned about forces and energy. Using "bopper poppers" they saw these two phenomena in action. First they activated the "bopper popper" and dropped it on a table, observing what happened, then they took them outside and placed a ping pong ball inside it. When this hit the ground they saw the energy pushing the ping pong ball high into the air. Lots of fun! This year New Windsor School has signed up to House of Science who deliver a different science kit each week. As a result we have access to a lot more science resources and experiences for students. See photos below.

Distance Learning

 Dear Parents/Caregivers,

I hope you are coping ok in this lockdown and your kids aren't too bored! There is Distance Learning assigned each day on our website and intranet - lots to do, including many fun science experiments. Students who email completed work will get 10 ClassDojo points. Well done Isabelle Jones - the first to do it. Below is her work from the first day of Distance Learning. I am eagerly waiting to see what Jacinda decides to do tomorrow. Keep up the good work Room 15!

Week 2

 Hi all,

Wow! Where is the time going? We are two weeks down already and students of Room 15 have hit the ground running. There have so many stars - Isabelle, Viral, Anthony, Sahar, Wil and Farhaan just to name a few. Students have been busy talking about and practising our New Windsor Way competencies. They are also getting used to other changes at school, including a new timetable and maths programme. This week I have shared with you their First Day Poems. Enjoy!

Welcome back!

Hi parents/caregivers,

Welcome to 2021! I am Kaine Henderson and I will be your child's teacher this year. For the first few weeks we will be getting to know each other. Remember to send your child with their sun hat this term. Later in the term they will also have swimming lessons. This will be my main way of communicating throughout the year with notices and will upload children's work. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to email me khenderson@newwindsor.school.nz. My door is also always open.

Regards,

Mr Henderson.
