Week 5

Hi all,

Wow! We're officially half way through Term 2. Scary thought ... especially as I have just two weeks left to write reports. These will go home in Week 9 and will be followed by an interview with you and your child in Week 10. This is a good opportunity to ask questions or discuss concerns.

It has been a busy week with swimming lessons and Futsal coming to an end. Your child brought home a certificate with their swimming level today. In writing this week students wrote diamante poems (diamante is Italian for diamond). Some will be published in the school newsletter on Tuesday - check them out! They make the shape of a diamond and use a variety of nouns, adjectives and verbs.

Congratulations to Levi Abernethy and Aniar Sua who were Stars of the Week for their excellent listening skills at Circle Time. The winner of the PB4L draw was Minwoo Han.

Have a great weekend and wrap up warm.

Mr Henderson.

Week 4

Hi all,
It's been a busy week in Room 19. Students have also been swimming every day at the Dean Greenwood Swimming School. They are lucky to be having professional lessons. Remember togs and towel every day next week. A few kids have missed out this week as they didn't have their gear. If they are sick with a note they are excused, otherwise they must swim. It's part of the New Zealand Curriculum and compulsory. Kiwi Sport has one week to go. Stars of the Week were Sofia Hamid and Esha Patel. The PB4L draw winner was Xavier Hansen-Bae.
Have a great weekend!
Mr Henderson.

Week 3

Hi all,
Room 19 has had another great week of learning. Stars of the Week were Aryaman Sharma for settling into New Windsor School quickly and Pari Patel for her contributions to class discussions. The winner of the PB4L draw for a second week in a row was Lola Davis. Well done!
Just a reminder that students have swimming lessons every day for the next two weeks. They will needs togs, towel and goggles (if they have them).
Have a great weekend!
Mr Henderson.

Week 2

Hi all,
Wow, what a busy start to the term we’ve had. There has been lots going on in class and out of class. Kiwi Sport started this week with children learning about Futsal (like soccer but with fewer players and a ball that doesn’t bounce).
Sofia Hamid, Mela Shallard, Julian Beretta and Abtha Razack Abdul represented New Windsor School at the Cluster Cross Country on Tuesday and did us proud.
Swimming lessons start next week and go every day for two weeks. Your child needs to bring togs, towel and goggles (if they have them) every day.
Stars of the Week were Hafsa Saeed and Abtha Razack Abdul. The PB4L draw winner was Lola Davis. Have a great weekend and stay dry.
Mr Henderson.

Week 1

Hi all,
Your child has settled back into class well for Term Two. A few parents have asked questions about home study. This is sent home each fortnight and children have two weeks to complete it. In addition to this your child should practice their basic facts, spelling words and read for 10 minutes each night. It is their responsibility to do this.
The Stars of the Week were Mela Shallard for showing resilience in class and Regan Steenkamp for his progress in reading. Well done Mela and Reagan! The PB4L draw winner was Minwoo Han.
Kiwi Sport starts on Wednesday and Room 19 students will be learning Futsal for the next four weeks.
Have a great weekend!
Mr Henderson.
