Friday, August 27th

Hi all,

Congratulations! You have survived the first week of lockdown. I have been impressed by how well children have coped with online learning - this is never easy for students or teachers but everyone is making the best of it.

Today I am sharing a selection of work submitted by students - Anthony, Viral, Harsh, Prisha and Sahar. These students have submitted the most work this week and I am pleased to announce they are the Stars of the Week. See me when school returns for your prize. Keep sharing your work with me on email and Class Dojo.

Have a great weekend and stay safe. I'll see you online again at 9.30am on Monday.

Mr Henderson.

Friday, August 20th

Hi all,

I hope you and your families are well during this lockdown. I am enjoying seeing your children's smiling faces on Zoom. I hope they are enjoying the sessions as much as I am.

With news of increasing Covid cases in and out of Auckland, it looks like we could be at Level 4 for a lot longer than a week. I am hoping not but keep emailing your children's work and posting it on Class Dojo. I'll share some on here in coming weeks.

A reminder for next week: There will be the usual Zoom sessions at 9.30am and 11.30am on Monday but I have DMIC PD, which was scheduled for today, on Tuesday. This means there will be no Zoom sessions on Tuesday and they will resume again on Wednesday.

Below I have posted your child's calendar art for you to view. It's entitled "Four seasons". I was very happy with the results and I hope you are too. An order form will be going home shortly - if we are in lockdown much longer we may take orders electronically.

Mr Henderson.

Friday, August 13th

Hi all,

We had a busy week in Room 15 with lots of learning and assessments. I tested every child in reading, writing and maths with some good results - many children moving up multiple levels in reading.

Calendar Art is finished and looks great. It can be viewed in class and I'll also put it on here next week. Order forms will go home shortly.

This week Sahar's poem was accepted to be published in the next Toitoi magazine, distributed in schools and libraries around New Zealand. Each term it receives 1000 submissions and only 40 are accepted. It's a real achievement - well done Sahar! See her poem below.

Remember next Wednesday, August 18th is Whacky Fale Pyjama Day where students can wear pyjamas with their fale colour. If they don't have these they can wear any pyjamas, or if they prefer they can come in clothes. Friday, August 20th is an Accord Day - teachers have DMIC PD and school is closed for students.

Stars of Week 3 were Sahar, Pia, Shalom, Prisha and Joseph.

Friday, August 6th

Hi all,

It has been a busy week in Room 15. Calendar Art and speeches were started. DMIC mentors from Massey University visited over three days to see what the students are learning in maths. They visit five times each term as part of my professional development.

Students have been studying physics in science - see photos below. They bounced balls of different sizes and mass to see which went the highest.

Don't forget to wear black on Monday for Blackout Day to celebrate our success at the Olympic Games.

Stars of the Week were Kiri, Bahes, Anthony, Sahar, Ayesha and Juwiariah.
