Week 6

Hi all,

Thanks for all the contributions to our market day stall. Make sure you put it in your diary under September 27th. Our roopu's market is from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Keep the golf balls, wool and balloons coming as we're starting to make our goods next week. Any empty egg cartons would be great too.

It's been another busy old week at New Windsor School with lots of learning. Today the children made cheese toasties with some variations - added onion and pineapple. They are enjoying procedural writing and following instructions to make different meals.

The notice for the Tip Top trip is going home on Monday. This trip is on September 19th.

Stars of the Week were Meirui Chen and Hafsa Saeed. The winner of the PB4L draw was Aryaman Sharma. Congratulations to all of this week's stars.

Have a great weekend!

Mr Henderson.

Week 5

Hi all,

I finished the last Gloss tests this week - assessing what strategies your child uses in solving mathematical problems. There has been a lot of progress across all domains (addition/subtraction, multiplication/division and ratios/proportions). I'd like to acknowledge Mela Shallard and Tegan White in particular for their progress - this week's Stars of the Week. An IKAN test - assessing your child's knowledge in maths - also had pleasing results. The PB4L draw this week was won by Pari Patel.

Children enjoyed making fairy bread this afternoon for procedural writing. Next week cheese toasties are on the menu :-)

Can I please have your child's permission slip and money for Tristar Gymnastics?

Have a great weekend.

Mr Henderson.

Week 4

Hi all,

Thanks for your understanding in our decision to close the school on Wednesday. Striking was the last thing we wanted to do and the decision wasn't made lightly. At the end of the day your child will benefit from a better education system.

It has been a busy week, cramming everything into four days. The Stars of the Week were Reagan Steenkamp for always using his manners and Athena Yao for her enthusiasm in maths. The PB4L draw winner was Abtha Abdul Razack.

Enjoy your weekend.

Mr Henderson.

Hi all,
There is no school on Wednesday, August 15th as teachers are taking industrial action. School will be closed. Thanks for your support in this matter.

Mr Henderson.

Week 3

Hi all,

It's been another busy week in Room 19 with lots of learning. Some children have already moved up in fractions which is amazing after just three weeks. I am very impressed!

This week students learnt about New Zealand currency and others around the world. They learnt how much they get for each New Zealand dollar and went on a shopping spree in a country of their choice.

In writing they wrote instructions to play a game or make something. Yesterday they made fruit kebabs :-)

Keep bringing the permission slips and money in for Tristar Gymnastics. Thanks to those who have already done so.

Stars of the Week were Pari Patel and Abtha Abdul Razack for their progress in maths. The PB4L draw was won by Levi Abernethy.

Have a great weekend!

Room 19's amazing art work

Check out your child's latest art work - I was very impressed with these.

Week 2

Hi all,

Phew ... what a week! I feel like I've been swimming under water all week and have just come up for air. Book Week was a HUGE success with lots of fun activities. Some of the highlights were the PJ and Popcorn night on Wednesday, the Scholastics Book Fair, Clifford the Dog's visit on Thursday and the Book Character Parade today. I hope it has given your child a new appreciation for reading. Among the messages conveyed to students this week were "to improve in reading you simply have to read". The more they read, the better they will get. Thanks to all the parents who helped throughout the week, especially in preparing the amazing costumes and outfits in today's Book Character Parade. I could see a lot of effort had been made. Congratulations Audrina Singh who won the prize for best dressed.

Room 19 has had a Monopoly competition all week to introduce this term's topic "Money makes the world go round". Monopoly is a great representation of life, particularly the latest game with Eftpos and million dollar-plus properties. Well done Tegan White who won the competition with more than $10,000 and eight streets - a real entrepreneur.

Our trip to the Tip Top Factory has been confirmed for September 19th. More information will follow. Thanks to all those parents who offered their help.

Stars of the Week were Hafsa Saeed for her amazing writing and Levi Abernethy for his excellent maths. The PB4L draw winner was Hafsa Saeed.

Have a great weekend.
