Let's go Totara, let's go!

Let's go Kauri, let's go!

Let's go Rata, let's go!

Let's go Kowhai, let's go!

Hi all,

This week we officially launched our fales and the students were very excited. They are earning tokens in and out of class for showing the New Windsor way values - Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Confidence, Collaborative and Creative. See photo below.

In class this week students wrote explanation reports about everyday objects and how they work. They will continue with this next week. They have learnt about fractions and did Kaitiakitanga (guardianship and conservation) art.

Mid-year reports went home today with writing and PAT assessment results. Make sure you book in a time to see me for Student Involved Conferences to discuss these further.

Stars of the Week were Bahes, Prisha, Sahar, Kiri, Zaheer and Shuaib.

Next week is another busy week with an open day and blessing of astro turf planned on Thursday. The blessing is at 12.30pm and open day is from 2pm-3pm.

Friday, June 18th

 Hi all,

Another week over and only three left of this term - it's going so quickly! This week students of Room 15 wrote nursery rhymes, learnt about improper/equivalent fractions and comprehension in reading. In Physical Education they played netball - boys versus girls: boys won 3-2. The week finished with two discos - one for Years 1-3 and one for Years 4-6. I went to both and the students had a great time (see photo below). Stars of the Week were Prisha, Viral, Pia, Sahar and Ayesha.

Friday, June 11th

Hi all,

It has been a short but busy week. Monday was Queen's Birthday and school was closed today for teachers to get professional development in DMIC maths. This is a new way of teaching mathematics which hopefully your child has been talking about.

Students have been busy writing their own ending to popular nursery rhymes, performing plays, learning about fractions and doing science. Students learnt how bees feel vibrations - using a tuning fork, water and a ping pong ball - see photos below.

Stars of the Week were Aleena, Mele, Prisha, Viral and Bahes. Congratulations to these students.

Friday, June 4th

Hi all,

This week I finished writing reports for your child and these are currently being read by the Senior Leadership Team. They will go home in the week starting June 21st. I am looking forward to informing you of your child's progress.

This week's inquiry was Social Science and how changes affect different habitats, particularly the area outside rooms 26 and 27 where trees have been cut down.

Students received prizes for their road safety prizes - see Prisha Prakash and Anthony Yeh below who took out 3rd place and Highly Commended respectively.

Stars of the Week were Isabelle, Farhaan, Sahar, Shuaib and Viral.

Have a good extra long weekend and I'll see you on Tuesday.
