Welcome to Room 7's blog

Dear parents/caregivers,

Welcome to the first of many blogs. I see this as a "fifth wall" of the classroom with your child's work displayed here and important information. I will try and update it every week so watch this space. Your email addresses will be loaded onto the system so you will be notified when a blog is posted.

Students of Room 7 have hit the ground running with lots of learning. We are gearing up for the camp in Week 8. This will be an exciting week and I know some of the students are also anxious about being away from home for the first time. When they return you'll see a big change in them.

Stars of the Week are Jitesh Anand and Karthik Padma who are both new to New Windsor School and have settled in really well.

The community picnic starts at 5.30pm tonight. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Shared lunch

Hi all,
Sorry it has been so busy and I forgot to remind you about the shared lunch tomorrow - hopefully your child has told you. They can bring anything that doesn't require heating.
Cheers.

Week 8

Hi all,

It's the end of week 8 and we're all starting to get tired. One more week and it's the summer holidays! I am sure you and your child will be looking forward to this.

This has been another busy week at New Windsor School, ending with the annual Fun Day today. The children enjoyed themselves on the water slide, in the pool and playing in the Rampage Castle. They have worked so hard all year and earned themselves a break today.

Stars of the Week are Julian Beretta and Reagan Steenkamp for their hard work and perseverance in Taekwondo. The PB4L draw winner is Pari Patel.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Week 7

Hi all,

The weather Gods have held the rain away for us today so cluster athletics could go ahead. Well done to Abtha Abdul Razack, Sofia Hamid, Tayyab Ahmed, Meirui Chen and Esha Patel who represented the school from Room 19.

It has been a busy week with lots of learning. The junior school athletics and cross country prizegiving was held today. I hope you enjoyed reading about your child's progress in their report last night. I am extremely impressed with the progress everybody has made.

Student Involved Conferences are planned for December 3rd and 4th, starting at 2.15pm. There is still time to book if you have haven't done so.

Thanks to everyone who donated to Movember this month. We raised an impressive $230 which will go to the Mental Health Foundation and research into men's health. Donations can still be made at www.movember.com/newwindsorlads. See our result after 30 days' growth above.

Stars of the Week were Esha Patel for being a great role model and Sofia Hamid for her amazing narrative writing. The PB4L draw winner was James Bosman-Gartner.

Have a great weekend!

Week 6

Hi all,

It has been an extremely busy week with lots going on at school. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the cluster athletics was postponed until this Friday.

This week was the inaugural Writers’ Festival which was hugely successful. Students had two published writers speak to them and there was a great turnout to the open afternoon/evening on Thursday to celebrate your child’s writing. On Friday the whole school attended the first ever New Windsor School Spelling Bee. This was a lot of fun and our very own Levi Abernethy was the best speller in Year 4. Well done Levi!

Stars of the Week are Meirui Chen for her writing and Hafsa Saeed for being the most improved student this year. The PB4L draw winner was Aniar Sua.

This month is Movember when men relive the ‘80s and grow a moustache to highlight men’s health issues and raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation. I am doing it with Mr Daniels and Mr Gundy at New Windsor School. Any donations would be appreciated – visit www.movember.com and search for “New Windsor lads”. Thank you Julian Beretta for your kind donation with your pocket money.

Have a great weekend!

Week 4

Hi all,

Well we're nearly half way through Term Four. This has been another busy week in class and the students have enjoyed swimming in the afternoons. Thanks for reminding them to bring their togs each day.

This week was Diwali and today we had a special Bollywood performance at assembly. Well done Esha on a superb dance.

Stars of the Week were Audrina Singh for moving up two levels in maths and Pari Patel for her impeccable manners. The PB4L draw winner was Abtha Abdul Razack.

A reminder school is closed on Monday as teachers take industrial action. We will be picketing on Maioro St between 8am and 9am - if you're driving past give us a toot for support.

Have a great (long) weekend!

Mr Henderson.
